Individual Counseling
-
Every student at Collier High School works with a designated counselor for individual counseling. Each student receives individual counseling three times per month as noted in their IEP. Students can make additional requests as needed
-
Our counseling staff are all Master's level licensed professionals. Our Counselors licensure includes LAC, LPC, LSW, and LCSW. Counselors participate in weekly clinical supervision with their identified supervisor.
-
Our counselors use a person-in-environment and strengths based approach with each student.
-
Our counselors use a variety of therapeutic approaches including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solutions Focused Therapy, Relational Therapy, Sandtray/Play Therapy Techniques, and Crisis Intervention/De-Escalation Skills.
-
Each student will create goals and work with their counselor in sessions to meet their unique goals.
-
Our clinical staff works closely with the school staff including teachers, administration, psychiatrist, and other professionals. The counselor will make referrals when needed for additional therapeutic or academic supports.
-
Our counselors participate in all meetings related to their specific students to act as a support, advocate, and therapeutic resource to the student. They will serve as the point person for each student and their parent/guardian/sending school district.
-
Additionally, we have a SAC/LCADC within our social service department who provides support to any students with substance use concerns.
